Temple at Gangaikonda Cholapuram

Gangaikondacholapuram Temple is situated near the Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and credited to King Rajendra Chozhan (Rajendra Chola I, the son of Rajaraja Chola I) the great Chola king of South India, succeeded his father in 1014 C.E. as the Chola emperor. He built the temple for Siva at Gangaikonda Cholapuram, similar in design to the Tanjore Brihadisvara temple built by his father Rajaraja Chola.
